President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev took in the ceremony of commissioning of Gas Dehydration Plant constructed at the Bozoy reconstructed underground gas storage in Aktyubinsk Region. The new gas infrastructure in the country was built by the National Company “KazMunayGas” JSC within the framework of the Program for Accelerated Industrial and Innovative Development of Kazakhstan. The Head of State started up the new plantin a live television broadcast during a traditional teleconference dedicated to the Industrialization Day.
In order to ensure stable exports of Kazakhgas for and avoid gas shortage in the southern regions of the country, a large-scale reconstruction of the Bozoy underground gas storage facility is under way in peak heating period.
The process flow sheet of Bozoy underground gas storage was equipped with a modern gas dehydration plant to upgrade the gas quality and its purification from mechanical impurities and moisture within the framework of the project. The carried out work allowed to increase the reliability and safety of the gas storage facility, as well as to increase the daily productivity of gas extraction and injection to the projected 27 million cubic meters per day. In addition, the gas quality was significantly improved and gas injection and extraction time was reduced from 200 to 150 days.
After the ceremony of commissioning the facility, the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev highlighted the solutionof the current important issue for the country and thanked the gas workers for the work performed.
“Kazakhstan, being oil and gas country, for a long time has depended on gas supplies from neighboring states,” - the President said. - But this problem was solved after construction of the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent Pipeline. Now, completely providing gas to the domestic market, we can expand horizons to export our gas. Previously, residents of the southern regions froze in winter. The country's leadership and government made best effort to ensure a stable natural gas supply.
Today, having completed gasification of the country, we can make export supplies. And we increase now exports due to our deposits, such as Kashagan, Tengiz, and Karachaganak. But we must not only sell dry commodity gas, we should arrange its processing and export already received products. This is a very important project for the people and the country.”
The gas dehydration plant allowstransporting natural gas from the Bozoy gas storage facility via the Bukhara-Ural and Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent Pipelines to consumers in Aktobe Region and southern regions of Kazakhstan, thereby ensuring high-quality, uninterrupted gas supply during the heating season. In addition, international transit of commercial gas to the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of China will be ensured.
The investment project of the NC “KazMunayGas” JSC was implemented by its subsidiary KazTransGas JSC. The constructed complex is unique in its volume and capacity. Prior to this, no such gas infrastructure facilities were built in Kazakhstan. The most modern equipment from Europe and Ukraine was used while implementing the project.
At the solemn ceremony of commissioning First Deputy Director General of Intergas Central Asia JSC Mukhatay Shanbatirov said thatthe gas dehydration plant is considered one of the largest facilities of the main gas pipeline: “Due to this facility, daily production will increase and the gas quality of will meet international standards. In turn, the service life of the main gas pipelines will also increase,” - said Mukhatay Shanbatyrov. “Gas obtained from the storage is transported now via the Beineu-Bozoy-Shymkent main gas pipeline that allows to fully cover the needs of the southern regions for natural gas during peak heating season, while ensuring the stable export of domestic gas to China."
For information:
The Bozoy underground gas storage (the UGS) located in Shalkar district of Aktobe Region is the largest construction in the Republic of Kazakhstan. It consists of Zhamankoyankulak and Zhaksykoyankulak storages of the Bozoy Group. Gas comes via the Bukhara-Ural main gas pipeline from Zhanazhol deposit to the Bozoy UGS for storage. The UGS is a strategic structure which main task is to regulate seasonal gas consumption. The approved projected volume of gas storage at the Bozoy UGS facility is 4.0 billion cubic meters. Gas is saturated with vapors of formation water during storage in deep layers (350-385 m) at the UGS Bozoy, as a result of which its parameters decrease.
