Another compressor station launched at C leg of Kazakhstan-China Pipeline
30.11.2017

Another compressor station launched at C leg of Kazakhstan-China Pipeline 30.11.2017 On the eve of the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the NC “KazMunayGas”JSC jointly with the Chinese National Oil and Gas Corporation (CNPC) commissioned a new compressor station No. 1 (CS-1) on C leg of Kazakhstan-China Pipeline. The station is located near Baspandy village in Shardarinsky district of South Kazakhstan Region and it is one of the 8 planned stations of pipeline.

Construction and further operation of the investment project was implemented by the joint subsidiary Asian Gas Pipeline LLP of KazTransGas JSC and Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Co. Ltd. The new gas infrastructure facility will increase the capacity of pipeline C leg and increase the volume of gas transportation to 25 billion cubic meters per year, while ensuring the maximum reliability of uninterrupted 24/7 transportation.

SCS-1 is a part of the “Central Asia-China” transnational pipeline, gigantic gas artery in length and capacity, which connects four countries - Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and China.

The new compressor station is equipped with the most modern equipment of the world's leading manufacturers. There installed Rolls Royce gas pumping units. The planned capacity of SCS-1 is 516,749 cubic meters of gas per hour.

The used innovative equipment and complex of auxiliary systems ensure safe and technologically uninterrupted gas transportation during the whole period of main gas pipeline operation. In the future, the new compressor station upon expansion of SCS-1, can increase the volume of gas transit, if necessary. For this, additional connection of the compressor station to D leg is provided according to technological parameters.

Executive Vice President for Gas Transportation and Marketing of the NC “KazMunayGas”JSC Kairat Sharipbayev noted that the new gas infrastructure expands the transit opportunities of Kazakhstan: “Commissioning of another powerful compressor station of Kazakhstan-China Pipeline is another step in improving gas transportation system of Kazakhstan”- Kairat Sharipbayev said. - In general, as of today, the country's gas industry has been almost completely renovated and equipped with the most modern equipment. After commissioning the station, Kazakhstan is able to double gas shipments to the eastern regions ahead of all schedules, having fulfilled the instructions of the Head of State on developing the transit potential of the country and increasing the volume of transit traffic twice by 2020”.

KazTransGas JSC (a part of the NC “KazMunayGas” JSC) is the main gas and pipeline company in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which represents interests of the state on domestic gas market and worldwide. The Company transports commercial gas via pipelines and gas network, provides international transit and sells gas on the domestic and foreign markets, develops, finances, builds and operates pipelines and gas storage facilities.
