The National Gas Operator KazTransGas JSC has summed up the operation results of the group of companies for the first half of 2019.
Mr. Kairat Sharipbayev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of NC KazMunaiGas JSC, remarked that the successful activity of the group of companies of KazTransGas JSC was due to the support of SWF Samruk-Kazyna JSC and NC KazMunaiGas JSC. "The leading companies have supported and financed the initiatives of the National Gas Operator to increase the technical capacity of the gas transmission system of the country, diversify and create new transit routes for commercial gas. A fully modernized, high-tech domestic gas transmission system is able not only to diversify gas transit flows, but also to increase its volume, thus meeting the country's domestic needs", - said Mr.Kairat Sharipbayev.
The figures show that the consolidated income amounted to more than KZT 1 trillion. The net profit of the National Gas Operator amounted to KZT 170.2 billion, which was higher than last year indicator by KZT 100 billion or 140%.
While losses on trade operations at the domestic market amounted to KZT 62.6 billion. The National Gas Operator sells gas for domestic consumers below its cost, offsetting costs through gas exports.
KazTransGas JSC is the largest taxpayer in the country. During the reporting period alone, KazTransGas JSC has paid taxes and other payments to the budget in the amount of more than KZT 56 billion.
Gas sales in the first half of this year amounted to 11.6 billion cubic meters, including the volume of gas sales to the domestic market amounted to 7.3 billion cubic meters, and 4.3 billion cubic meters for export.
According to Mr. Kairat Sharipbayev, due to the constant growth of natural gas consumption by the population and industry, and the need to maintain the volume of gas export (about 10 billion m3 per year), it is necessary to increase resource base of natural gas to cover losses from the domestic market (about KZT 120 billion per year).
To date, the National Gas Operator KazTransGas JSC operates more than 19 thousand km of gas pipelines with an annual capacity of up to 224 billion cubic meters and gas distribution networks with a length of more than 47 thousand km, and is the most important and the most advanced technological gas flow operator in Central Asia.
