Olivier Lazar, Head of Shell in Kazakhstan, got acquainted with the work of the plant for the utilization and processing of associated petroleum gas from the “Kozhasai” gas field. The working trip was organized by JSC NC “KazMunayGas”.
The innovative factory started at the end of last year. Despite its compactness, the factory’s capacity is 400 million cubic meters of commercial gas per year. Processing products, and this is not only purified gas, but also condensate, granular sulfur, are very popular in the domestic market and have great potential for export. The President of the country, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, spoke recently in his speech in Atyrau to representatives of the industry about the need to create similar factories in Kazakhstan, including deep oil and gas refining.
The gas refinery construction project was implemented by Gas Processing Company. The work of the factory plays a large role in improving the ecology of the Aktobe region. Now, associated gas from the field is not flared, not emitted into the atmosphere, but rationally used. Only Kazakhstani highly qualified employees work at the factory, receiving a salary at the level of international standards.
After reviewing all the stages of the gas processing industry, the head of Shell in Kazakhstan, Olivier Lazar, praised to factory.
- For me, visiting this factory was very useful, I got a lot of good impressions. This is a very high level of production, processing, work of the factory as a whole. I think that such business models have great prospects, and we are seriously considering their capabilities. I am sure that such projects have a great potential,” said Olivier Lazar.
Recall that the “Kozhasay” gas processing factory was visited by Prime Minister Askar Mamin in August this year. The head of the Cabinet especially drew attention to the technological equipment and the use of digital solutions in production. In his opinion, such innovative enterprises should be replicated throughout Kazakhstan, as they are very compact and do not require costly investments.
“The economy receives an additional resource in the form of gas, and the environment improves,” the prime minister said.
It should be added that the construction of the “Kozhasay” factory was realized exclusively through private investment. A similar project has become a pioneer in Kazakhstan, implemented as part of the state policy on energy and environmental safety, as well as in order to fill the domestic market with commodity and liquefied gas.
