Intergas Central Asia assets include three underground gas storages (“UGS”) where the biggest one (active storage capacity 4,000,000 thousand cub.m), Bozoi UGS, is located in Aktobe region (operated by Aktobe Branch). The other ones are Poltoratskoye UGS (active storage capacity of 350,000 thousand cub.m) located in the Southern-Kazakhstan region (operated by Shymkent Branch) and Akyrtobe UGS (active storage capacity 300,000 thousand cub.m) in Zhambyl region (operated by Taraz Branch). The underground gas storages are used to maintain natural gas supplies to clients during winter peaks and in periods of decline in gas supplies.
Tariff for the storage of natural gas for domestic clients is also regulated and approved by the authorized state body responsible for supervision and regulation of natural monopolies. Pursuant to the order of the Regulation Agency No.129-OD of26.11.2021, the tariff for the services of natural gas storage in underground gas storages was approved at the level of 478.35 Tenge per 1,000 cm of gas per month, VAT excluding.
In case the natural gas to be stored shall be consumed outside the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the tariff for gas storage services is set on negotiated basis with account of costs related to the provision of services and the margin that is used to finance capital investments.
Basic requirements to sign an agreement for gas storage services imply:
- presentation of supporting documents evidencing the possession of the relevant volume of natural gas (original of the resources certificate or a sale-and-purchase contract with a gas producer);
- compliance of gas with the quality standards set in the ST of the RoK 1666-2007.
